New SADLE in their attempts to be economically self-sustainable in long run and be able to offer employment opportunities to as many leprosy affected people, disabled and marginalized groups have recently opened up a retail outlet in Kathmandu. The outlet is known as 'AKAR'. Akar located at Lazimpat, Kathmandu aims to offers high quality handicraft and good eating places.

New SADLE produces its high quality handicraft products in two of its rehabilitation centres located in Kapan, Kathmandu and Kalaiya, Bara.

Akar Export was registered in 1997 with the Department of Commerce, under the Ministry of Commerce with a view of exporting quality handicraft from Nepal.

Ever since its inception Akar has been able to export its products to countries such as Germany, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, United States of America, Canada, Italy, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Japan and Australia.

Akar Export is although a business house, it has been keeping up with the norms and values of Fair Trade and thus would only be purchasing its products from socially oriented organization who look after well to the interest of their employees in a positive way.
